The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival will feature four films over three days, starting on Thursday, April 3, and running through Sunday, April 6 at the Thalian Hall.

Thursday, April 3rd, 7:30pm – The Other Son
This is the story of two men, an Israeli and Palestinian, who were accidentally switched at birth and raised in the other’s culture and religious practices. The film movingly depicts the turmoil within the families affected by this switch. Both families are forced to reconsider their identities, values, and beliefs. Screening will be followed by a Dessert Reception by Angie’s Catering. Ticket Price: $15

Saturday, April 5th, 8:00pm – For A Woman
The tale of the marriage of Michel and Lena through the eyes of their daughter Anna. The complexities of this loving marriage are intensified by the couple’s Jewish identity in France during World War II and by the appearance of the husband’s brother.
Screening will be followed by a Dessert Reception by Angie’s Catering. Ticket Price: $15

Sunday, April 6th, 3:30pm – Fill The Void
Fill the Void gives audiences a glimpse into the lives of Hasidic Jews in Israel. Levirite marriage laws are depicted as a young Hasidic woman Shira, in love and engaged to marry a young man of similar age and background to herself, is pressured into an arranged marriage with the widower of her much-older sister Esther, who has died in childbirth. The film’s emotionally fraught close-up scenes, haunting lighting effects, and gifted acting add to the emotional impact of the film on audiences. There will be a sumptuous reception by Angie’s Catering after the film at 5:45pm and before the 7:00pm film. Tickets: $18, package of both Sunday Films $32

Sunday, April 6th, 7pm – Nicky’s Family
Nicky’s Family is a biopic documentary of extraordinary moral courage and emotional depth. The film depicts the work of Sir Nicholas Winton, now called Britain’s Schindler, who in 1939 saved the lives of 669 children in Nazi-occupied Czechoslavakia, bringing the children across Germany into the safety of Britain. He never spoke of his work for more than fifty years. His secret efforts were not revealed to those rescued or to the entire world until his wife found documents and transport plans in a suitcase in their attic. In 1988 the BBC broadcast the first reunion of Winton with a hundred of those rescued children and their families. Film will be preceded by a sumptuous reception beginning at 5:45pm.
